All protected health information must be treated strictly confidentially. As a precondition for participating in the Job Shadow Program at Cincinnati Children`s all students must sign a confidentiality agreement on the morning of their planned shadow experience. Violations of this agreement result in numerous civil and/or criminal penalties under federal and national law. During their professional shadow experiences, students may see, ignore, access or temporarily possess a patient`s protected health information.
